Gate Pa
The suburb of Gate Pa is much older than many others in Tauranga and grew from the 1940's as a State Housing development. If you look at a map you'll see the suburb is sandwiched between Greerton and the Avenues. A great amenity for the area is the Cameron Road shopping centre. Gate Pa, as the name implies has significance in early New Zealand history where Maori battled the British forces.
Gate Pa real estate is very handy to Tauranga city and Tauranga Hospital along Cameron Road.
House prices are very reasonable, according to local real estate agents, as a large number of properties come in under $350,000. The properties often represent good investments for landlords wanting to rent the houses out.
There are nearby schools and the Gate Pa Shopping Centre handy to all. Local real estate agents say the choice of schools and low house prices makes the area popular with younger home buyers and renters. Schools in the area (or nearby) include: Gate Pa Primary School, Aquinas Catholic College, Tauranga Girls College, and Tauranga Boys College.
Other local (or nearby) facilities include: the Returned Services Assocation (RSA), Anzac Park, Gate Pa Bowling Club, the RSA Bowling Club, Tennis Club, Tauranga Golf Club, and the Bay of Plenty Racing Club. Shopping facilities include the Fraser Cove Shopping Centre, Gate Pa shopping Centre (on Cameron Road) and Greerton Shopping Centre.
