Matua

Tauranga's beautiful suburb of Matua is located on the peninsula less than 10 minutes drive north from Tauranga city centre. Many of the homes were built to capture the magnificent views of the harbour. Real estate prices for harbour views can stretch well in excess of $1 million.

As a Tauranga real estate agent, Keenan comments that "although many Matua homes date back to the 1970's and 1980's many are well presented and several are in the process of being upgraded and modernised." Overall, homes are of a high quality, with a range of good sized homes for sale between $350,000 to $550,000 (many have views).

There are some stunning properties on Matua Road, Waratah Street, Acacia Place, Levers Road, Smiths Road, and Manuwai Drive. Many of luxury homes have uninterrupted ocean views.

Residents of Tauranga's Matua can enjoy lots of amenities within the suburb and close by, including Fergusson Park, the Matua Bowling Club, a stroll along the foreshore, cricket, soccer, boating, and tennis. The suburb has a medical centre, and a small local shopping centre, but many residents do their main shopping at the nearby Cherrywood Shopping Centre. For children there is the Matua Primary School, the Otumoetai Intermediate School and Otumoetai College are about 5 minutes away.
