Windermere

Windermere (developed in the 1980's) is home to the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic. The Polytechnic offers the biggest choice of New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) approved programmes in the Western Bay of Plenty and Tauranga.

Windermere, although very central and close to the city centre, is predominantly a lower priced housing suburb ($200,000 - $250,000 range is typical). Windermere has many affordable homes making the area popular with young families, students and people on fixed or lower incomes.

The Greerton Shopping Village is less than 5 minutes by car and the drive to Tauranga City centre is around 10-12 minutes (depending on traffic). Windermere residents can drive to Mount Maunganui via the Maungatapu expressway.

There are a few Windermere homes with estuary views and some have sold for prices around $380,000 - $400,000 range.

Residents with young children would probably use the Maungatapu Primary School for education. There is the Windermere Park and the Greerton Swimming Pools are also handy.
